激辛グルメ祭り Round one

I went to 激辛グルメ祭り (spicy food festival) at Shinjuku today! I needed to go to Shinjuku anyway to go to church so I walked and had my lunch at the festival. The weather was cool today and I wore my hoodie. It's supposed to still be summer at this time of the year, but typhoon is coming...again this week.

IMG_8685esiphone.jpg

I ordered 激辛ブンボーフェ (err I don't know how to spell that in alphabet), a Vietnamese food.

IMG_8686esiphone.jpg

It's spicy! But still not as spicy as I thought it would be. I still could drink the soup.

IMG_4586es.jpg

IMG_4587es.jpg

I want to go to the second and third round too. Spicy food is the only thing I like about summer...other than the fact that my clothes dry faster.

By the way, I saw this bus nearby.

IMG_8688esiphone.jpg

Shinjuku ♥ godzilla? LOL.

IMG_8689esiphone.jpg

I still felt hungry so I bought this famous almond cream stick. Three years living near Shinjuku and I've only just bought this today. Anyway, anyway, I can understand why this stick is so popular (you almost always can see people queuing in front of the shop). It's delicious, I like it. I wish they would sell the chocolate one, though. HAHA. Custard cream is never enough for me. #chocolatefan

Gyukatsu

This is the continuation to my post yesterday (sort of).
I didn't go home straight after going to the sunflower festival. I got off at Ikebukuro and ate lunch there.

IMG_4580esiphone.jpg

IMG_4577esiphone.jpg

I decided to try gyukatsu. This one seemed pretty famous...the restaurant's name was 牛かついろは, I think? Anyway it was 12 pm and I was lucky there was only one couple queuing before me. I got in fast. Many people were queuing after I finished eating!

IMG_8676esiphone.jpg

IMG_4571esiphone.jpg

It was delicious. I liked it. Would recommend it to whoever wants to try gyukatsu.

I really have nothing much to say today and I'm not in the mood of writing much.
I stayed at home all day. I watched The Grand Budapest Hotel....loved it.

Hima de himawari mawari

Today is the last sunny day before typhoon come next week so I woke up early and went to Kiyose to see sunflowers!
I arrived at around 10 am and there were not so many people there. Maybe because it's a weekday too. It was really really hot, though. My skin got burnt and I couldn't stand being there for more than one hour.

But the sunflower field was so beautiful in this good weather...

Beware of lots of bright and sunny photos ahead.

IMG_4485es.jpg

IMG_4440es.jpg

IMG_4465es.jpg

The special one.

IMG_4462es.jpg

Butterfly!

IMG_4450es.jpg

IMG_4451es.jpg

IMG_4455es.jpg

Another special one.

IMG_4483es.jpg

Actually this was the first time I've been to a sunflower field. This place was so hot because there's no shelter around. I started to sweat within 10 minutes of taking photos.

IMG_4493es.jpg

But I still continued taking photos anyway. I'd come this far...!! And I don't think I will come here again in the near future because I hate the heat! So I must take photos!! LOL.

IMG_4496es.jpg

Seeing people with hats reminded me again that I should have bought a hat. Wait, I said this too last time when I spent >4 hours at the beach. But I still haven't bought any hat yet.

IMG_4502es.jpg

IMG_4503es.jpg

This place is so bright and sunny. Thought I was gonna die from the heat.

IMG_4504es.jpg

IMG_4506es.jpg

IMG_4507es.jpg

Wow this sunflower is popular with the bees.

IMG_4518es.jpg

Did I say that I went here alone? Yes, I went here alone. I tried like 59854095 times to take a photo of myself. I'm so bad at this. I was too shy to ask for anyone around to take a photo of me.
As you can see in the photo, my face is all red because of the heat. I felt like dying. Urgh.

IMG_4519es.jpg

Red! All red.

IMG_4522es.jpg

I also took photo with my phone. I tried to smile but fuck it was so hot and I just couldn't-- urgh.

IMG_8673esiphone.jpg

Okay, back to the sunflower photos. I still have more.

IMG_4530es.jpg

This post must have bored anyone who read it already. I'm jamming 30+ photos into this one post.

IMG_4536es.jpg

Wow very important.

IMG_4541es.jpg

I'm running out of things to say.

IMG_4546es.jpg

I like this one. It's so big.

IMG_4547es.jpg

These flowers are taller than me!

IMG_8668esiphone.jpg

All facing the sun.

IMG_4548es.jpg

By 11 am, more people started to come.

IMG_4550es.jpg

IMG_4551es.jpg

Apparently most people come from here. From the parking lot, or the Greentown kiyoto bus stop. What? I didn't come from here? Nope, because I'm anti-mainstream. I read the website and it said the closest bus stop (Shitajuku iriguchi) is only 3-minute walk to the field. That's why when most people got off the bus at Greentown kiyoto, I stayed in the bus. HAHA.
Maybe that's why I didn't meet many people from the side of the field near the station I got off.
There's apparently a free shuttle bus on Saturday and Sunday that goes to Greentown kiyoto bus stop. But today was Friday and there's only the normal local bus. When I googled it again after getting home, most websites only mention the Greentown kiyoto bus stop. LOL. I'm glad I didn't follow the crowd and read the official Japanese website. I didn't want to walk for 6 minutes under the heat with many people...
But I used the stop anyway to go back to the station since it's nearer from where I was.

IMG_4555es.jpg

This place was damn hot. I couldn't stand more than one hour here. I was lucky the bus arrived only 1-2 minutes after I got to the bus stop and there were many empty seats. I got back to the station at around 11 am.

IMG_4560es.jpg

I'm so tired right now. Gotta sleep soon. I'm going to stay at home the whole day tomorrow.
Oh, I hate summer. (but I love to go out and take photos...)

Favorite line in summer

I walked to Shinjuku today and went home using the subway. Fukutoshin line is always my favorite in summer.
Come to think of it, my apartment is located in a pretty strategic location.
I can walk to three stations, one JR line and two subway lines. All within 15 minutes. When I go to Shinjuku, I can either go there on foot, use the JR Yamanote line or Fukutoshin line. Being underground is much more pleasant during summer.....so I use Fukutoshin line often these days when I'm in no hurry. It's more expensive than JR.....but is usually less crowded.

IMG_4429es.jpg

I also like how I can just pop up inside my uni's science campus from the subway exit. More reason to choose Nishi-waseda over Shin-okubo or Takadanobaba. The station is always less crowded. It was never crowded every time I use it, actually???
Shin-okubo is full of scary foreigners and Takadanobaba is full of students. Nishi-waseda is...well.....always has less people.

It's so sad that I will have to move out next year because of my job. ;_____;
I definitely gonna miss walking to Shinjuku and passing by a bunch of suspicious love hotels on the way to Kabukicho.

IMG_4434es.jpg

I bought this cheetos at the supermarket! The only thing I like about summer is the arrival of spicy snacks like this. HAHA.
